Anna Horvath

Horvath, Anna Marie (nee Janzer)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. After a short illness, mom passed away November 30th, 2017 at Erie Shores Hospice at the age of 87. Born December 9th, 1929 in Bengough, Saskatchewan to her parents George and Emma Janzer who came to Canada in 1924.  At the tender age of six, Anna endured the passing of her dad. In 1937, her mom, stepfather Nick Kettenstock and siblings Gerald, Jenny and stepsister Carrie came to Ontario where she spent her teenage years growing up in Harrow. She went on to obtain her hairdressing certificate in 1947. Moving to Mersea, in 1949 mom met and married Joseph Horvath. They took up farming on the 5th Concession in Leamington, where they raised three children. Mom's second career was in retail where at the age of 60, she and her sister Carrie opened and successfully ran Karri-Anns in Leamington. After retiring from the store in early 2000, she moved from the farm into town. Endless hours were spent at the arenas watching hockey games, figure skating, and she wouldn't miss anything her grandchildren or family were involved in over the years. Her summers were spent at the family cottage. Mom was a dedicated volunteer in hairdressing at the Sun Parlour home for 10 yrs. She often spoke of how rewarding it was to give back. In 2011 she moved to Kingsville. She loved to just get in her car and go. Her most recent pastime was downloading and listening to her favourite songs while spending countless hours expressing her artistry through colouring.  We will forever admire her strong values, beliefs, and hard work ethic. She maintained long lasting relationships with many neighbours, friends, and customers over the years. She was an active member of Catholic Womens League for sixty yrs.
